The first few weeks at Kaptiva Sports Academy have been intense. After an introductory talk and the first training sessions, it is time to get back into the swing of things and adapt to the routine. These days the psychological team has been holding meetings with families to get to know the players.
This has allowed us to learn more about their backgrounds and all the details that can help our staff understand the players. This way, if the boys have any concerns or questions, the KSA psychologists can work with them, knowing their context and ensuring a better outcome for the session.
The KSA team of psychologists meets with families before they leave
Some of these families have already met with our psychologists, while others will do so in the coming days. We have conducted these sessions in person or via video call.
The aim, as we have already mentioned, is to gain a better understanding of where they come from, their background and expectations, where they want to go and what their goals are. It should be noted that the players themselves were not present at these meetings. This allows us to understand the family’s perspective ahead of the upcoming individual sessions with the player.
It is also a way of understanding the environment in which the boy has grown up and the personality he has developed. Of course, issues related to football and his abilities are also addressed. The player’s self-esteem and confidence have a significant influence, as do many other aspects that both coaches and residence staff will take into account.
The importance of psychology in the Kaptiva method
We have not only mentioned this in this blog, but also on the Kaptiva Sports website: psychology plays a very important role in the Kaptiva method.
Although, obviously, the aim is to strengthen and improve skills on the pitch, there is also a focus on individual and personal development. We achieve this through dialogue with coaches during training sessions and psychology sessions.
Growing as a player is fine, but our main objective is for our players to grow as people. We want great players, but also great individuals. That is why KSA has held meetings with families to get to know the players.
If you have any questions or concerns about our psychology staff, the Kaptiva methodology, or anything else, please feel free to contact us at any time.
