The KSA boys left the residence a few days ago. The activity hasn’t stopped, as the Global Stage teams have represented us at the MADCUP, and the Summer Camps are currently taking place. Although we hope and trust that all of them enjoy their summer with friends and family, it’s always good to know how to stay in shape during the holidays.
Summer vacation is a time full of trips, beach and pool days, and lots and lots of heat. Even so, as football players, it’s recommended to find some time to train every now and then. And besides that, it’s important to try to maintain some control over your diet.
It’s important not to leave training until the last day
After a year of effort, studying, and competitions, it’s normal to want a break. In fact, it’s necessary and mandatory to rest both the body and mind. During other holidays, such as Christmas, which are shorter, it’s easier to get back into activity. But in summer, we can be talking about more than two months of inactivity.
That’s why it’s important not to postpone training and routines to regain fitness until the last days before the new season starts. It’s better, and easier in the long run, to gradually find time throughout these months for simple exercises that help us maintain our rhythm.
Additionally, if we find a friend or partner, we can do more complex activities. Since football is the sport we’re focused on, the more people there are during training sessions, the better.
Taking care of hydration and exercise timing
It’s not only the frequency of workouts that matters. We need to be especially careful about the times we choose to train. And, of course, besides this, it’s important to stay constantly hydrated.
Although it depends on each city’s location as well as the conditions and context of each player (housing, proximity to indoor facilities, etc.), it is essential to avoid certain times of the day. Right after eating or during peak hours (from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.) training should be avoided. It’s always better to train early in the morning or late in the afternoon, but again, this depends on the day and each player’s situation.
Regarding hydration, it should never be forgotten, even when we’re not training. Also, even if we’re not feeling thirsty. Due to the high temperatures and constant activity, we can become dehydrated without realizing it. That’s why it’s essential to always have a bottle of fresh water with us.
Taking care of your diet and enjoying the holidays
Traveling means discovering new things in every sense, including gastronomic experiences. That’s why it’s normal to let go a bit when it comes to certain foods and not pay as much attention to carbohydrates or proteins, among other things.
However, maintaining some control is beneficial. After all, it’s our body, and taking care of it is a fundamental responsibility. Avoiding, as much as possible, junk food, very fatty foods, industrial pastries, or processed foods is something we should always keep in mind.
But above all, we’re talking about holidays, so they should be enjoyed. You don’t have to be too hard on yourself or your teammates. We emphasize again that staying active is beneficial and will make it easier to return to KSA training. But it’s vacation time, this means time to swim and have fun with friends and family, so… have a great summer!
