We are on the doorstep of the MADCUP 2025. Another international tournament awaits us in the final stretch of June, where our teams will be made up of standout players from Kaptiva-organized events. Families will be in attendance and, as such, it is the best time to reflect on how to encourage your child at tournaments.

First and foremost, the boys and girls will be playing against high quality teams and need positive support. This is in addition to showing understanding, empathy and education. We recently talked to you about how our coaches are getting ready for the MADCUP. Let’s look at how best to act as parents.

MADCUP 2025

Demonstrate good manners towards your children and the opposing team

It is not only about supporting your child, but also about not disrespecting any player of the opposing team. As adults, we should see them for what they are: children and young people enjoying a tournament to grow as a player. However, it is much more important that they grow as a person.

Parents are the reference figures in most aspects of your children’s lives. Especially the younger ones will grow up imitating your behaviour. That is why it is important to lead by example. When there is a victory or a good play, you should applaud and celebrate, while in the opposite case, you should support them to prevent them from becoming demoralised and giving up.

On the other hand, it would be great if we could also celebrate or applaud when they make a good play. It is normal that in a competitive environment this does not happen, but at least we should avoid bad comments or actions towards the players or their parents.

KSA Tournaments

Understanding the purpose of tournaments

Let’s not deceive ourselves, whenever teams representing Kaptiva Sports Academy win, it is a cause for joy and celebration. Having players who give their all on the field and strive to achieve their goals is a luxury, and they deserve such rewards.

However, the desired result is not always achieved. For this very reason, we must be understanding and support them so that they continue to work and improve, learning from their mistakes. In the end, football is not an individual sport, but a team sport. There are many factors on the pitch that can determine victory or defeat.

The real objective, therefore, is for the boys and girls to enjoy what this experience entails. The important thing is that they enjoy themselves, have fun and learn in a real environment, where the other teams are not going to make it easy for them.

These are just a few keys to understanding how to encourage your child at tournaments. If you have any questions about the MADCUP, other tournaments or KSA, you can contact us at any time.
